Fat beam strings are the best. I play metal country jazz blues classic rock the list goes on and these strung up to a jazz bass are as ive said the best there is out there hands down. I like them slightly better than hi beams. Reviewed in the united states on august 14 2018 ive been using dr hi beams for a very long time they sound great and deserve a 5 star rating but the fat beams series are not as punchy as i expected.

I have a set of these on my alder rosewood j bass. I m not a fan of dr strings for this reason. Similar to the hi beams smoother and fatter. They are steel roundwound and have a round core.

They are just a little thicker down low. They have a nice balanced response not overly bright but very present even volume across the strings. I usually run nickels on it but the fat beams sound awesome. They have an exceptional low e string that just rings feels and sounds fantastic. The a d and g strings are very close to dr hi beams in feel and tone but with a slightly looser feel. Check him out for a variety of reasons as well as to hear some characteristics of these strings.
